Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru Domaine 2024 from Méo-Camuzet
Tasting
Nose
The nose is immediately seductive, with notes of black cherry and redcurrant, accompanied by subtle spices and a touch of smokiness from well-integrated oak. It retains a floral character.
Palate
The palate is full-bodied, carried by a lively yet well-controlled acidity. The spicy, slightly tight tannins give the wine grip. The finish lingers on a hint of salinity. The wine plays on two registers: one of the two original climats brings silkiness, the other structure.
Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs naturally with red meats, game birds and mature cheeses. It also lends itself to more gastronomic pairings with duck or spiced yet refined dishes.
Serving and cellaring
The Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru Domaine 2024 is best served at a moderate temperature, never too warm. Decanting is recommended during its first years.

The estate
Based in Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, Méo-Camuzet took its current name in the early 1980s. It now belongs to the Méo family and is run by Jean-Nicolas Méo, who has farmed all the vines directly since the former sharecroppers retired. The vineyard is devoted mainly to Pinot Noir, complemented by a little Chardonnay. The estate follows practices inspired by organic farming, without certification, and draws in part on the philosophy of Henri Jayer.
The vineyard
This wine comes from two premier crus of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation: Aux Boudots and Aux Murgers. Both lie mid-slope with an easterly exposure, in the northern part of the appellation, in a transition zone between Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Aux Boudots is located in the northern part of the commune and adjoins the climat Aux Malconsorts, in Vosne-Romanée. Its vines are old. Aux Murgers lies further south than Aux Boudots, in an area renowned for powerful, structured wines. Both climats are planted exclusively with Pinot Noir. The estate forgoes herbicides, ploughs the soils and sorts the grapes by hand.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage was marked by exceptional rainfall and intense downy mildew pressure, which made vineyard management particularly demanding.
Winemaking and ageing
Faced with the conditions of 2024, Méo-Camuzet chose to blend its two Nuits-Saint-Georges premier crus. Boudots and Murgers are vinified separately, then brought together during ageing to create the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru Domaine 2024. This cuvée is therefore not a single-vineyard wine.
The grapes are hand-harvested, then sorted on a sorting table before going into vat. A cold pre-fermentation maceration precedes fermentation, which starts naturally with indigenous yeasts, as part of a minimally interventionist approach to winemaking. In 2024, the proportion of whole clusters was reduced, as the stems had been affected by the sanitary conditions.
Ageing takes place in oak barrels, with a proportion of new barrels adapted to the vintage. The estate bottles its wines by gravity, without fining or filtration.
