Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Volnay 1er cru "Mitans" 2024 Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs
Tasting
Appearance
The colour is a deep ruby.
Nose
The nose combines floral notes of violet and faded rose with red and black fruits (griotte cherry, raspberry, delicate blackberry). A light forest floor character and soft spices complete the bouquet.
Palate
On the palate, this wine unfolds a velvety texture supported by exceptionally fine tannins. Its lively freshness carries the whole through to a persistently long finish.

The estate
Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs is the family négociant house of Domaine Méo-Camuzet, based in Vosne-Romanée, in Burgundy. The domaine descends from a line of winegrowers and coopers in the Côte-d'Or and inherited the legacy of Étienne Camuzet. It took its current name in 1981. The négociant business belongs to the Méo family and is headed by Jean-Nicolas Méo. It purchases grapes and applies the domaine's methods, inherited from Henri Jayer, to complementary appellations.
The vineyard
The Volnay 1er cru "Mitans" comes from the climat Les Mitans in Volnay, in the Côte de Beaune. Its name evokes its mid-slope position, between the village and the Beaune–Chalon-sur-Saône road. The grapes are purchased from long-standing suppliers.
Winemaking and ageing
For the Volnay 1er cru "Mitans" 2024, the grapes are exclusively hand-harvested, then carefully sorted in the vineyard and at the winery. The wine is aged in French oak barrels.
Grape variety
Pinot Noir
