The elegance and precision of a great red Burgundy wine
The estate
Founded in 1984 by Olivier Leflaive, supported by his brother and his uncle, Maison Olivier Leflaive is a true institution in Burgundy. Located in Puligny-Montrachet, this family-run business stands out for its "haute couture" négoce approach and its pioneering spirit in wine tourism. The estate today farms around one hundred hectares, part of which it owns. Still owned by the family and embodied by Olivier Leflaive, the estate relies on Franck Grux, technical director, to craft wines of great precision.
The vineyard
The climat from which this Pernand-Vergelesses originates lies in the northern part of the Côte de Beaune, just below the famous hill of Corton. Facing north-west, the vines thrive at an altitude ranging from 230 to 250 metres. This terroir rests on clay-limestone soils, ideal for growing vines. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, mindful of protecting the environment.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand. After rigorous sorting, the berries are fully destemmed before beginning maceration in open vats. Ageing then takes place over sixteen months, mainly in oak barrels with a measured proportion of new wood, and concludes with blending in tank to perfect the harmony of the cuvée.
Grape variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
