The Unique Expression of Pinot Noir Enhanced by Bollinger
The Estate
Nicknamed “Boll” by the people of Champagne or “Bolly” by the English, the timeless and legendary Champagne Bollinger House is part of the select circle of the greatest Champagne houses. The style of Bollinger champagne is defined by the exemplary precision applied at every stage of its creation. Respect for tradition, hand-riddling of bottles, cork sealing of reserve magnums, the last resident cooper in the region—this pursuit of excellence has symbolized the spirit of Bollinger champagne since its founding in 1829 in Aÿ. More than an art, it is a heritage.
The Vineyard
Bollinger’s uniqueness comes from its 174 hectares spread over seven major Champagne vineyards, 85% of which are Grands and Premiers Crus, allowing the house to be one of the few to produce its own grapes for its blends. The house’s signature varietal, pinot noir, represents 60% of the vineyard’s plantings.
The Wine
Crafted mainly from crus from Verzenay as well as other villages (Avenay, Tauxières), the PN cuvée is defined as a unique vision of pinot noir. This champagne is the result of research into the taste and various origins of this emblematic varietal in the house’s history. While PN perpetuates the history and singularity of the house style, each edition offers a new and innovative interpretation of the vineyard of Champagne Bollinger and its unique expertise.
Vinification and Aging
The dosage is moderate at 6 grams per liter. The maturation period in the house’s cellars is more than twice as long as required by the appellation’s specifications.
Blend
This Blanc de Noirs is 100% pinot noir.
