Appearance

The Pure Expression of a Coteaux Champenois by Maison Bruno Paillard

The Estate
Founded in 1981 in Reims, Maison Bruno Paillard is a family-run, independent house that quickly established itself in the winemaking landscape. Although the family has been rooted in the region since 1704 as brokers and winegrowers, the creation of the brand marked the beginning of an absolute quest for purity. Today, Alice Paillard runs the estate alongside her father, Bruno. The house stands out for its rigour, favouring chalky terroirs, the exclusive use of first-press juices, and a highly selective distribution.

The Vineyard
The vineyard cultivated by the house spans a little over 25 hectares, spread across 18 prestigious crus, with a strong concentration in the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. Certified organic, the estate favours sustainable practices such as ploughing, controlled cover cropping, and the preservation of biodiversity to encourage the vines to root deeply into the chalk. It is in the heart of the village of Avize, renowned for its exceptional chalky soils, that the grapes for this single-vineyard cuvée are grown, recognised under the Coteaux Champenois appellation.

Winemaking and Ageing
Unlike the sparkling cuvées for which the Champagne region is renowned, Avize 2021 is crafted exclusively as a still white wine. This singular, single-vineyard approach aims to offer a direct and unadorned expression of the chalky minerality, reflecting the philosophy of rigour and precision that defines the estate.
