An emblematic cuvée closely linked to the history of the House of Champagne Drappier, the Cuvée Charles de Gaulle was born from an encounter with the man himself. The historic headquarters of Champagne Drappier, a few kilometres from Urville, is where General de Gaulle became passionate about the champagnes. The Cuvée Charles de Gaulle pays tribute to this great man, with a Champagne of character, whose strength and authenticity are revealed in their most beautiful expression.
There is no other variety than Pinot Noir to give strength to the character of this cuvée. With a richness and a powerful vinosity, the Cuvée Charles de Gaulle is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir, the signature grape of the House, and 20% Chardonnay. In pursuit of authenticity and naturalness, Champagne Drappier uses the lowest possible amounts of sulphur in their cuvées.
After the wines are aged in vats, they are blended and the result is a Champagne with extreme freshness. The finesse of the aromatic bouquet reveals delicate apple and dried fruit notes with spicy nutmeg scents that follow with a burst of citrus notes. On the palate, the Cuvée Charles de Gaulle is full of complexity and refinement with a delicious density that offers candied fruit notes. The finesse of the bubbles is persistent until the elegant and airy finish. This is a champagne in which the strength of its character is expressed through authenticity and harmony.
