Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Blanc de Blancs Millésimé 2014 by EPC
Tasting
Appearance
The wine shows a luminous golden hue, enhanced by delicate, persistent bubbles.
Nose
The nose is remarkably subtle, with delicate aromas of white flowers and citrus fruit. With time, the bouquet unveils lightly smoky notes along with honey and candied fruit, reflecting its extended ageing in bottle.
Palate
On the palate, this Champagne stands out for its remarkable freshness and fine minerality. It is precise and vibrant, supported by a delicate mousse and a long, saline finish characteristic of the Vertus terroir. Its liveliness and mineral structure clearly express the chalky composition of the soils.
Food and wine pairing
This Blanc de Blancs Millésimé 2014 is an exceptional match for refined seafood such as oysters, scallops and shellfish. It also pairs beautifully with delicately prepared fine fish, ceviches and fish tartares. When it comes to cheese, it is an ideal choice with hard cheeses, particularly Comté aged for 24 months. Perfect for elegant aperitifs and grand festive occasions.
Serving and cellaring
The Blanc de Blancs Millésimé 2014 is best enjoyed at a temperature between 8 and 10°C.
A Blanc de Blancs from Vertus with crystalline minerality and remarkable purity
The estate
Officially founded in June 2019, EPC is a Champagne house run by its three founders, Édouard Roy, Jérôme Queige and Camille Jullien Gilardi. Based in the village of Vindey in the Sézannais area, the brand has grown exponentially, from 30,000 bottles in 2019 to nearly 700,000 bottles in 2025, distributed across fifty countries. EPC stands out for its innovative collaborative model, working with 90 to 100 partner growers, and for its commitment to full traceability. In 2022, Stéphane Baschiera, former president of Moët & Chandon, joined the board of directors, lending this young house extraordinary institutional credibility. In 2025, the acquisition of Charles Mignon enabled EPC to pass the one-million-bottle mark.
The vineyard
The Blanc de Blancs Millésimé 2014 comes from the terroir of Vertus, a Premier Cru village in Champagne, south of Épernay. The grapes are sourced from the Monts Ferrés plot, known for its exceptional chalky soils rich in Upper Cretaceous fossils. The east-facing slopes remarkably preserve freshness throughout the growing season and promote even ripening of the grapes. These soil and climatic conditions give the Chardonnay grown in Vertus a distinctive freshness and remarkable minerality.
The vintage
The 2014 vintage benefited from unusual weather conditions. August proved relatively cool, while September was marked by remarkable sunshine and dryness. These conditions produced Chardonnays of remarkable tension and aromatic purity.
Winemaking and ageing
The Blanc de Blancs Millésimé 2014 was crafted in close collaboration between EPC and growers based in Vertus. Vinification took place in stainless steel tanks, with full malolactic fermentation. This technical approach preserves freshness while allowing complex flavours to express themselves. Cellar master Richard Dailly oversaw the blending and winemaking, working hand in hand with the partner growers.
