Description

An intense, rich and fresh Champagne by Moët & Chandon

The producer

The Moët & Chandon Champagne house was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, a visionary wine merchant, who quickly made Moet Chandon a reference in the highest courts of Europe. A few years later his grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, developed the reputation of the house internationally.

Jean-Rémy Moët notably created the iconic cuvée of the house, the Moet and Chandon Imperial, in honor of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who visited the estate on several occasions and who allegedly invented the tradition of bashing open a bottle of Moët Chandon champagne to celebrate a victory with his troops.

Owned by the LVMH group since 1987, the Moet and Chandon Champagne House produces, from a very rigorous selection of Champagne terroirs, unique cuvées recognized across borders for their quality and for their seductive personality.

The wine

Moët & Chandon's Ice Imperial was specially created to be served on the rocks. Its dosage is 45 g/litre.

The blend

Ice Imperial by Moët & Chandon is the fruit of a blend that enhances the specificities of each of the three Champagne grape varieties. The Pinot Noir varietal (40 to 50%) combines aromatic intensity with a beautiful structure, the Pinot Meunier grapes (30 to 40%) seduces by its roundness, its amplitude and its richness, then the Chardonnay variety (10 to 20%) which prodives acidity, precision as well as refreshing notes on the finish.

Ice Impérial by Moët & Chandon: Characteristics and tasting tips

The tasting

Colour

This wine is a beautiful deep gold colour with amber highlights.

Nose

This champagne is immediatly surprising with its intense aromas. A remarkably rich bouquet gives way in turn to scents of stone and tropical fruits, highlighted by notes of riper fruits and light spices. Surprisingly delicate red fruit and herbal notes follow.

Palate

Round and ample, the palate enables the richness of surprisingly fruity and sweet flavours to express themselves intensely. The finish is marked by a great freshness, enhanced by a delicious acidity and delicious notes of grapefruit, quinine and ginger.
