Description

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Rosé 2012

Tasting

Colour

The colour is a pale, luminous salmon.

Nose

The nose combines red fruits, citrus and floral notes, with recognisable pink peony and cherry blossom, along with a hint of mandarin.

Palate

On the palate, this champagne is delicate, with a creamy mousse and a lively freshness, balanced by the generosity of the fruit. Its silky, enveloping texture carries through to a persistent finish.

A Floral, Creamy Vintage Rosé Champagne from Perrier-Jouët

The Estate

Founded in the early 19th century by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët, the Perrier-Jouët House, based in Épernay, is one of the historic houses of Champagne. It belongs to the Pernod Ricard group. Séverine Frerson, the house's eighth cellar master and the first woman to hold the position, perpetuates a floral style built on Chardonnay. The house owns vineyards located notably on the Côte des Blancs and aims to convert all of its vineyards to regenerative viticulture.

The Vineyard

Belle Epoque Rosé 2012 comes from numerous terroirs in Champagne, notably those of the Côte des Blancs, at the heart of the “Golden Triangle”, as well as the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne. The well-exposed chalky slopes favour a slow, even ripening of the grapes while preserving their acidity. The chalk imparts minerality and tension to the wines. A large share of the house's vines are classified grand cru. Perrier-Jouët has stopped using herbicides. It is also developing cover crops, hedgerows and tree plantings throughout its vineyards, as part of its commitment to regenerative viticulture.

Grape Varieties

Belle Epoque Rosé 2012 is a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
