Robert Parker

Antonio Galloni

Dom Ruinart’s NV Brut is an attractive, light-weight wine laced with citrus, lemon peel, and flowers, all coming together in a delicate, feminine style best suited to near-term drinking. The straight NV is rarely exciting here. This is Lot AES4AB. Anticipated maturity: 2010–2013. Importer: Moet Hennessy USA, New York, NY; tel. (212) 251-8200

Wine Spectator

This full, rich brut coats the palate with a symphony of flavors, including apple, almond, cinnamon and cream. The first non-vintage from Ruinart.

Although this has some red-berry aromas from pinot noir, the pear, white-peach and white-floral aromas are central, and they surely come from the chardonnay grape. Excellent balance of fresh fruit, animating acidity and creaminess, the mousse keeping it moving steadily across the palate through the very clean finish. A cuvée of 45% chardonnay, 45% pinot noir and 10% pinot meunier. Drink or hold.

La RVF

A fine, persistent mousse; the nose struggles to open up, showing white fruit and notes of marzipan and biscuit, with the dosage standing out on the aromatic profile. The palate is round and supple; the wine is fairly crowd-pleasing, with a dosage that slightly masks the fruit; overall

The pedigree shows in the exceptionally attractive aromas, which are of toast, bread dough and yeast, with a trace of peach and honey. In the mouth, it's so rich, creamy and refined, it's hard to resist. There's a finesse that every wine should have. Defines balance, harmony and style.

Description

A superbly balanced Champagne wine in an ecological package

The property

The first Champagne House founded in 1729, Ruinart is an undeniable reference. The historic Ruinart Champagne House owes its birth to the visionary and pioneering monk Dom Thierry Ruinart. Located in the heart of Reims, the Ruinart House guards a treasure. Unique, historical monuments and architectural feats, the Ruinart chalk pits have been classified as a historical site since 1931 and have been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since July 2015. Nearly 40 meters underground, in the darkness and coolness of the cathedral-like cellars, the precious bottles wait before coming into the light. Elegance, style and timelessness define the DNA of the Ruinart Champagne House, one of the most appreciated brands in France, embodying the excellence of a French lifestyle around the world.

The vineyard

Exclusively from prestigious Champagne terroirs, namely the Grands and Premiers Crus of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, this "R" cuvée from Ruinart is the perfect vintage expression of the "Ruinart taste".

The wine

After more than two years of research and development, Ruinart unveils its new case: Ruinart Second Skin. An ecological alternative to boxes, Ruinart Second Skin is a 100% paper envelope, fully recyclable and molded to the shape of the bottle. This Second Skin, whose color and texture are inspired by the historic chalk pits of the House, highlights the roundness of the bottle's curves. In a desire to continue strong commitments to the environmental challenges of tomorrow, the Ruinart Champagne House thus succeeds in combining aesthetics, authenticity and responsibility.

Blend

Pinot Noir (60%)
Chardonnay (40%)
R de Ruinart is a reflection of the House, pure, refined with a bottle and a magnum of recognizable and incomparable design.
