The estate
Established in 1720 in Beaune by Edme Champy, Champy represents the oldest Burgundy trading house. Integrated into the AdVini group since 2016, it manages 21 hectares on the Côte de Beaune, stretching from Volnay to Corton-Charlemagne. Technically managed by Dimitri Bazas, the House combines the professions of merchant-grower and grower, with half of the vineyard certified organic and the other half HVE. The final production site within the walls of Beaune, Champy stands out for its remarkable heritage, including 15th-century cellars and an Eiffel-style winery built in 1900, honored with the Living Heritage Company label in 2021.
The vineyard
The Clos de Bully constitutes one of the oldest vineyards in Burgundy, planted as early as 1158 by the monks of the Maizières Abbey. This historic plot shelters a spring as well as a Roman well. Located on the rolling slopes between Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-lès-Beaune, this Pernand-Vergelesses terroir rests on clay-limestone soils.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage experienced a late budburst at the end of March for Chardonnay and early April for Pinot Noir. This year gave birth to wines with fruity and supple profiles, endowed with beautiful freshness in both red and white.
Winemaking and aging
The Pernand-Vergelesses Village "Clos de Bully" 2023 benefits from cold maceration followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Vatting lasts for three weeks. Aging takes place for 12 months in oak barrels, with 20% new wood.
Grape variety
This Burgundy wine is a 100% Pinot Noir.
