A fleshy and mineral Pommard from the Côte de Beaune

The estate

Founded in 1720 by Edme Champy, Champy remains Burgundy’s oldest wine merchant. Owned by the Meurgey family since 1990, it farms 21 hectares in the Côte de Beaune, notably in Volnay, Pommard and Corton-Charlemagne. Its historic 15th-century cellars, listed as historical monuments, and its connection with Louis Pasteur give this Burgundian house a uniquely rich heritage.

The vineyard

Pommard is made from vines located between Beaune and Volnay, on the Côte de Beaune. The parcels extend between 250 and 330 meters above sea level, benefiting from an ideal east or southeast exposure. This prestigious appellation includes 28 Premiers Crus, among them the famous Epenots and Rugiens.

Winemaking and aging

The grapes for the Pommard Village 2012 are vinified using traditional Burgundian methods, allowing for gentle extraction of the fruit and tannins from pinot noir. Aging in oak barrels brings structure and complexity to this wine from the Côte de Beaune.
