Decanter

A fine premier cru with dusky, autumn leaf characters and a beguiling fragrance. Plenty of bright acidity, precise tannins and finesse, with blackberry and blueberry fruit flavours followed by appealing spices on the finish. Classy and long. Marconnets is located at the northern end of the Beaune appellation with limestone/marl soils. Chanson owns 4ha (40% of the vineyard).

Not much nose at present, and rather inexpressive overall. One has to search for the fruit. Pretty astringent on the finish. More juice, please! (JR)

Bettane+Desseauve

A great success for the house in this vintage: a complete Beaune, subtly spiced, broad, fleshy, without heaviness, with a terroir character that may be a touch more earthy but more energetic in its expression than Grèves and even Clos des Mouches.
