An intense and refined Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru red wine
Château de Marsannay, located in the heart of the Côte-de-Nuits appellation, covers an area of 34 hectares. Shifting between 250 and 280 metres above sea level from the south of the town of Dijon to the commune of Vosne-Romanée, the terroir of the estate expresses, through its patchwork of plots, all the nuances and typicity of these fine Burgundian ‘’climats’’.
The 1er cru "Champeaux" 2021 by Château de Marsannay is a Gevrey-Chambertin wine that stems from the eponymous climat, located in the north of the appellation. With a surface area of 29 ares, this east-facing terroir lies on a thin brown clay-limestone soil.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are rigorously sorted on a table. Following a total destemming, the grapes are placed in temperature-controlled wooden vats, where they undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration. Alcoholic fermentation is accompanied by punching down and pumping over to encourage extraction. The wine is then pressed and aged for 12 months in barrels (75% new), followed by a further 5-month ageing period in the cellar.
Pinot Noir (100%).
