2004 Haut-Medoc, Bordeaux.
The Château Sociando-Mallet vineyard stretches over 85 hectares. It is located at the edge of the Gironde estuary on the Haut-Medoc appellation. This 2004 is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
The wine reveals a lovely specificity thanks to the Cabernet Sauvignons and their frankness. The grape-variety gives a dense and strong attack which then develops on a long and fine finish. The 2004 Château Sociando-Mallet is a strong, distinguished and worth-keeping wine.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Sociando Mallet's big, extracted, rich, classic 2004 boasts a deep ruby/purple hue as well as aromas of charcoal, wet stones, cold steel, and abundant black currant and cassis fruit. This medium to full-bodied, structured, powerful wine will benefit from 4-5 years of cellaring. It should last for two decades.
