Description
The purity and finesse of a Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
The estate
Since 1859, the Maison Louis Jadot has stood out as one of the great names in Burgundy. The family history began in 1826 with the acquisition of a parcel of the famous Beaune Premier Cru des Ursules. With expertise passed down through generations and a dynamic trading activity, the house now enjoys an international reputation. Louis Jadot offers a wide range of wines, from regional appellations to the most prestigious Grands Crus. In September 2022, Thomas Seiter (formerly of Bouchard Père et Fils) succeeded Pierre-Henry Gagey as president, while Thibault Gagey serves as general manager.
The vineyard
This Grand Cru from Louis Jadot comes from Clos de la Roche, an iconic appellation located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, near Gevrey-Chambertin. The vines benefit from a full eastern exposure and rest on clay-limestone soils, ideal for expressing this great Burgundy terroir.
Winemaking and aging
The harvest, done by hand, preserves the integrity of the grapes, which are transported in small crates. In the winery, vinification takes place in open vats (wood or stainless steel), with two punch-downs daily during fermentation. The aging of this Clos de la Roche wine, lasting 18 months, occurs in barrels from the house's cooperage.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
