Description
The balance and minerality of a Brut Rosé Champagne by Barons de Rothschild
The estate
Founded in 2005, the Champagne Barons de Rothschild House is a creation born of family and passion, resulting from the unique alliance between the three branches (Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Clarke, Château Lafite Rothschild), aiming to magnify the majestic Champagne terroir, which embodies quality and the art of living beyond borders. "Achieving greatness through remarkable accomplishments" has been the ambition of the Rothschild family for over 250 years, who, drawing on their winemaking expertise in Bordeaux, craft exceptional champagnes at the crossroads of savoir-faire and tradition.
Rooted in values of excellence, taste, and conviviality, the Champagne Barons de Rothschild House, whose headquarters have been located in Reims since 2007 near some of Champagne’s most illustrious estates, unveils cuvées whose distinctive style harmoniously blends finesse, balance, and purity.
The vineyard
The champagnes from the Champagne Barons de Rothschild House are crafted from grapes sourced from exceptional Champagne terroirs, notably the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims.
Vinification and aging
The Brut Rosé from Champagne Barons de Rothschild House is made exclusively from the cuvée (first press). Alcoholic fermentation takes place in small temperature-controlled stainless steel vats of 25 to 60 HL. Malolactic fermentation. The long aging on fine lees lasts 6 to 7 months. The vinification of pinot noir is carried out by the house in a dedicated winery. The dosage is low (6 g/l). The aging period on lees is at least 2 years and 6 months. The resting time after disgorgement is a minimum of 3 to 6 months.
Blend
92% chardonnay from the main crus of the Côte des Blancs (mainly Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil sur-Oger), 8% pinot noir from the Montagne de Reims (Verzenay, Vertus). Reserve wines, making up 40% of the blend, guarantee excellent quality and significant aging potential.
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Brut Rosé by Barons de Rothschild
Tasting
Appearance
The color is a beautiful pale pink with subtle salmon highlights. The effervescence is of great finesse.
Nose
The bouquet delights with its lovely minerality and aromas of fresh fruit, citrus, and white flowers typical of chardonnay. These aromas are complemented by subtle notes of raspberry, rose petals, and wild strawberries imparted by the pinot noir.
Palate
With a fresh and precise attack, the palate seduces with its silky texture, tangy notes of lemon and citrus, and beautiful balance. As the tasting progresses, fruity notes (red fruits, blackberry, redcurrant) emerge, enhancing the wine’s crisp character. The finish is charming with its minerality and persistence.
Food and wine pairings
This Brut Rosé from Champagne Barons de Rothschild House is a perfect match for Asian or Japanese cuisine with umami flavors. Sushi, sashimi, tuna tartare, truffled veal, or pink lamb are also refined pairing suggestions. This cuvée will also pair beautifully with lightly sweetened desserts such as a red fruit soup.
Serving
For optimal tasting, serve between 8 and 10°C.
