Description
The elegance and purity of a Blanc de Noirs champagne by Bollinger
The producer
Nicknamed "Boll" by the inhabitants of the Champagne region and "Bolly" by the English, the timeless and legendary Bollinger Champagne House is part of an exclusive group of great Champagne houses. Champagne Bollinger’s style is defined by the exemplary precision brought to each step of the winemaking process. Respecting traditions, riddling the bottles by hand, corking reserve magnum bottles, the last barrel maker in the Champagne region, the drive for excellence symbolises the whole culture of Champagne Bollinger since its creation in Aÿ in 1829. More than just an art, it is a heritage.
The vineyard
The Bollinger Champagne House stands out due to its 174 hectares split into seven main vineyards, 85% of which are Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, enabling the House to be one of the few Champagne Houses to produce its own grapes for its blends. Pinot Noir, the house's signature grape variety, constitutes 60% of the vineyard's total grape varieties.
The wine
Produced based on the 2013 vintage, this B13 Blanc de Noirs Brut de Bollinger is made exclusively with grapes from 5 crus, of which 92% are Grands Crus and 8% are Premiers Crus. The dosage is 6 g/l.
An authentic expression of the excellence of the Montagne de Reims vineyards, this B13 Blanc de Noirs Brut de Bollinger is a special tribute to the oenological and environmental values advocated by the house.
Presented in a 100% recyclable box made of mostly recycled materials, this limited edition box set magnifies both the singularity of the vintage and the pioneering vision of the Bollinger Champagne House.
The vintage
The year 2013 was characterised by a particularly long winter, with numerous episodes of snow and frost. Despite these less than ideal conditions and a later harvest compared to recent vintages, the quality of the 2013 harvest marked the history of the Bollinger Champagne House.
The vinification and ageing
Bollinger's B13 Blanc de Noirs Brut is aged on lees for over 7 years.
The blend
B13 Blanc de Noirs Brut de Bollinger is a 100% Pinot Noir.
The tasting
Colour
The colour has a subtle golden hue.
Nose
Rich and complex, the nose blends fragrances of ripe fruit, fruit jelly and marzipan with delicious notes of mirabelle and vine peach.
Palate
Very elegant, the palate is seductive due to the refined alliance between expressive fruit and delicious aromas of pear, fresh almonds and tarte Tatin.
Precision blends harmoniously with a beautiful minerality marked by delicious notes of citrus and candied lemon. The palate exhibits a velvety touch and a beautiful length until a refreshingly salty finish.
