Le Figaro Vin

The 1990 bouquet is quite mature, with a touch of mushroom and mirabelle plum in eau-de-vie. The palate opens with a fairly broad attack; the wine is generous, quite evolved, rich, with real vinosity and notes of honey. It brings Pinot Noir to mind even though it’s Chardonnay. It feels a little old-fashioned. Another bottle is also quite evolved, less mushroomy, more like dried leaves, more elegant and subtle, and younger.

The estate

An essential reference, the Charles Heidsieck Champagne House safeguards a prestigious heritage with chalk cellars dating back two millennia. A pioneer, Charles Heidsieck set itself apart as early as the late 1980s by highlighting the exceptional aromatic evolution of its multi-vintage Brut champagne. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck became the first Champagne house to indicate the "cellaring year" so the wine’s evolution could be tracked over time.

Blanc des Millénaires comes from five outstanding crus of the Côte des Blancs, in Champagne: Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, and Vertus.
