Charles Heidsieck : Brut Réserve "200 Years of Liberty" Edition Collector

A Brut Réserve Collector champagne with a seductive smoothness and aromatic richness

The producer

The Charles Heidsieck Champagne House is an unmatched reference and guards a prestigious heritage-filled history with its two thousand-year-old chalk cellars. A pioneer, Charles Heidsieck stood out in the late 1980s by highlighting the exceptional aromatic evolution of its multi-vintage Brut Champagne. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck was the first Champagne house to mention the "cellared’’ year in order to follow the evolution of the wine over time.

The vineyard

Charles Heidsieck reigns over a vineyard of around 60 hectares, located in the Marne and Aube regions. This vineyard is certified as a sustainable viticultural site and has been awarded the High Environmental Value certification. In addition to its own vineyard and following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck completes its yields by working with rigorously selected winegrowers and cooperatives in Champagne, with whom the house bears long-term contracts.

The wine

2022 marks a special year for the Charles Heidsieck House as the latter is celebrating the bicentennial of its founder’s birth this year. An elegant and educated gentleman, Charles-Camille Heidsieck was also a visionary entrepreneur, who did not hesitate, subsequent to the creation of Charles Heidsieck House in 1851, to embark on a journey to the United States in order to further expand the champagne market.  This gentleman was soon dubbed "Champagne Charlie".

Made from a selection of 60 vintages, this Brut Reserve "200 Years of Liberty" Collector's Edition by Charles Heidsieck pays tribute to the elegance of a bold and innovative gentleman who had a knack for business. The design of this bottle was created by the Russian artist, Catherine Gran.

Brut Réserve "200 Years of Liberty" Collector's Edition: Characteristics and tasting tips

The tasting

Colour

This champagne showcases a beautiful golden hue. The effervescence is fine and persistent.

Nose

Complex and flavoursome, the nose elegantly blends brioche and roasted notes with fragrances of ripe fruit (mango, apricot, mirabelle plum) and dried fruit (pistachio, almond).

Palate

The palate is seduced by this champagne’s structure, its mellowness as well as its fruity notes (plums and cherries). Generous and precise, the palate blends richness and freshness beautifully. The finish is persistent, with notes of praline and vanilla.
