Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage Collection 1995

Tasting

Nose
As the 63rd vintage of the House, Grand Vintage Collection 1995 reveals an aromatic evolution shaped by aging on the lees. The bouquet, initially focused on pear, citrus fruits and almond, opens up toward peach, apricot, candied lemon and honey, while retaining a brioche-like structure highlighted by notes of gingerbread and smoked teas.

Palate
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, carried by a freshness that evokes candied mandarin and clementine. The ensemble stands out for its fine balance between concentration and structure, with fruit that gradually unfolds, and a smooth, lingering finish in which brioche, ripe pear, almond and citrus fruits harmonize.

The finesse and richness of a vintage Champagne

The estate

The Champagne House Champagne Moët & Chandon was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, a visionary wine merchant, who quickly made it a benchmark at the European courts. A few years later, his grandson Jean-Rémy Moët expanded the House’s international reach.

Jean-Rémy Moët notably created the House’s iconic cuvée, Moët Impérial, as a tribute to Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte, who visited the estate several times and to whom—together with his troops—is attributed the gesture of sabering bottles of Moët & Chandon to celebrate a victory.

Owned by the LVMH group since 1987, the House crafts unique cuvées based on a demanding selection of Champagne terroirs, prized far beyond its borders for their quality and their seductive appeal.

The wine

Grand Vintage is produced only in great years in Champagne and is the free, personal expression of an exceptional vintage by Moët & Chandon’s Cellar Master.

Vinification and aging

This vintage Champagne benefits from extended cellar aging.

Blend

Chardonnay (40%), Pinot Noir (50%), Pinot Meunier (10%).
