Robert Parker

The latest release of Perrier-Joët's NV Brut Blanc de Blancs is charming and expressive, bursting from the glass with aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, pear, white flowers and subtle hints of buttered toast. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and fine-boned, its pretty core of fruit is girdled by succulent acids, concluding with a delicately chalky finish.

Wine Spectator

Alison Napjus

Lightly toasty on the nose, this rich Champagne is well-cut, with chiseled acidity defining flavors of quince paste, lemon curd, brioche and white blossoms as they ride the fine, zesty mousse. Drink now. 2,500 cases imported.

Decanter

Classic style with a reductive Chardonnay delicate nose of charcoaled orange and lemon peel. Carob, nougat and greengage on the palate, with a lifted freshness of lime macaron and white pepper.

James Suckling

Delicate nose with lime tree and lemon pulp, green apple and butter. The tarte tatin-like character is supported by pinprick bubbles, medium body and a tight-knit structure with zesty acidity and good floral length, enhanced by a touch of chalky minerality. 100% chardonnay. Drink or hold.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Medium golden yellow with silver reflections and a lively, fine mousse. Delicate cookie, yellow tropical fruit and some blossom honey on the nose, with a hint of grapefruit. Textured and elegant on the palate with a core of fresh pome fruit and a fine acidity, leading to pink grapefruit on the lingering finish. There's a mineral aftertaste, making for a multi-faceted food companion. (L2301421, PM).

La RVF

A fairly fresh bouquet with thiol notes, lemon, citrus, a touch of vegetal character and menthol. The palate shows an easy, creamy Chardonnay style without great complexity.

Wine Enthusiast

Roger Voss

This Champagne is in the rich Perrier Jouët style. That means a crushed cookie aroma and ripe white fruits with a light texture. Taut minerality is balanced by apple pie flavors. The wine is ripe and ready to drink.

Description

The liveliness and freshness of a Blanc de Blancs champagne from the best Champagne terroirs

The estate

The Perrier-Jouët Champagne House was founded in 1811 by Pierre Perrier and his wife, Adèle Jouët. Produced from exceptional terroirs in Champagne (Ay, Mailly-Champagne, Avize and Cramant), the house’s cuvées are renowned for their unique style, mixing aromatic richness, sophistication and subtlety. Perrier-Jouët became Queen Victoria’s official champagne in 1861, then that of the French Imperial Court.

Owned by the Champagne company, GH Mumm, since 1959, the Perrier-Jouët House particularly stands out through the iconic bottle of its prestigious cuvée "Belle Époque", devised by Émile Gallé in 1969.

The vineyard

This Blanc de Blancs by Perrier-Jouët, who created its first 100% Chardonnay cuvées in the 1920s, perpetuates the house’s innovative spirit. Derived from the best terroirs in Champagne and produced with a low quantity of reserve wines, this cuvée enjoys 3 years of ageing on lees. With a surprising freshness and vitality, this cuvée is the perfect expression of the style of the Pierre-Jouët Champagne House.

The wine

Perrier-Jouët is paying great attention to its environment and is enfolding this cuvée (for bottle formats only) in an innovative case. Made in France from 100% natural fibres from FSC-certified forests, the Ecobox is an eco-designed gift box i.e. without any mineral oil and limiting the consumption of ink and water.

Vinification and ageing

Manually harvested, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation in thermoregulated, stainless steel vats, followed by malolactic fermentation. This cuvée, which dosage is 8g/litre, enjoys an ageing process that lasts for greater than twice the appellation criteria.

The blend

Chardonnay (100%).
