Description
An elegant and complex vintage Ruinart champagne in a sustainable envelope
The estate
Ruinart, the first Champagne House founded in 1729, is located in the heart of Reims. Elegance, style and timelessness are part of the Ruinart Champagne House’s very DNA. Regarded as one of the most valued brands in France, Ruinart embodies the excellence of the French ‘’art de vivre’’ in all four corners of the world.
The wine
Following over two years of research and development, the Ruinart Champagne House unveils its new case: Ruinart Second Skin. An sustainable alternative to boxes, Ruinart’s Second Skin is a 100% paper envelope, entirely recyclable and molded to the shape of the bottle. This Second Skin, whose colour and texture are inspired by the House's historical chalk quarries, enhances the curves of the bottle. Driven by the desire to pursue their activism towards improving tomorrow’s environmental challenges, the Ruinart Champagne House has successfully combined aestheticism, authenticity and responsibility.
The blend
The 2011 ''R'' de Ruinart Champagne comprises a blend of Chardonnay (51%) and Pinot Noir (49%) from the fine Grands and Premiers Crus terroirs in the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims.
The tasting
Colour
When savoured, ''R'' de Ruinart 2011 showcases a beautiful luminous golden colour with green highlights.
Nose
The complex aromatic bouquet blossoms in several stages. At first, floral notes such as lime blossom or verbena, followed by notes of herbs from the Provence region. The beautiful notes of white-fleshed fruit and exotic fruits mark the discovery of the beautiful bouquet which highlights mineral notes such as wet rock.
Palate
The wine reveals its light identity on the palate, with a lively tension offset by a velvety texture. Notes of white fruit and spices mingle with mineral notes, all leading to a persistent finish.
Food and wine pairing
Enjoy as an apéritif, this 2011 ‘’R’’ by Ruinart Champagne will complement seafood dishes such as a crab or a carpaccio of scallops with sweet spices.
Cellaring
Enjoy now, this vintage champagne can wait in the cellar for a few more years, enabling it to enhance its aromas with age.
