The elegance and minerality of a great Chablis wine
The estate
Founded in 1850, Domaine Laroche is a leading name in Burgundy. Based in the heart of the historic Obédiencerie, the estate tends a vast 91-hectare vineyard. A pioneer of the agro-ecological approach, the domaine stands out for its precision viticulture and deep respect for the environment. Now owned by the Advini group and managed by Jean-Baptiste Mouton, Domaine Laroche continues to shine around the world with cuvées that express all the purity and complexity of their terroirs of origin.
The vineyard
This Chablis wine comes from a 2.44-hectare plot on the prestigious Fourchaume climat. The vines, over 70 years old, enjoy an ideal south and west exposure that shelters them from northerly winds. They thrive on Kimmeridgian limestone soils, deep and clay-rich at the foot of the slope and becoming stonier towards the top. The vineyard is farmed according to a strict agro-ecological approach, certified High Environmental Value Level 3, which promotes biodiversity and excludes the use of herbicides.
The vintage
2024 was marked by unusual and capricious weather in Burgundy. Spring brought heavy rainfall, leading to flooding and significant disease pressure on the vines. Fortunately, a drier, sunnier August helped restore the health of the bunches and provided excellent conditions for completing ripening. Despite lower yields, the harvested grapes display superb typicity.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes for this Chablis 1er cru "Les Fourchaumes Vieilles Vignes" 2024 are harvested by hand, followed by a rigorous sorting of the bunches. Low-pressure pneumatic pressing ensures that only the heart of the press juice is retained. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place entirely in French oak barrels and large casks. Ageing lasts a maximum of 12 months in barrels that have already held several wines, in order to preserve the freshness and aromatic purity of the fruit.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
