Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Bourgogne Rouge Domaine des Croix Perrières 2022 by Louis Jadot
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a ruby hue of medium intensity, adorned with subtle garnet reflections.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens on notes of red fruits such as raspberry and redcurrant, accompanied by a touch of fleshy cherry. Delicate hints of undergrowth gradually enrich the whole as the wine aerates.
Palate
The attack reveals a wine of moderate acidity and medium body, imbued with elegance. Its silky texture is supported by remarkably fine tannins, leading to a delicate finish of medium length.
Food and wine pairings
This red wine pairs beautifully with traditional dishes such as beef bourguignon or a veal sauté with mushrooms. It also goes very well with roast poultry, grilled red meats, boards of fine charcuterie, as well as more elaborate vegetarian dishes such as a forest mushroom sauté or a vegetable gratin.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the Bourgogne Rouge Domaine des Croix Perrières 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 15 and 17 °C, ideally after decanting for around thirty minutes. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth but will continue to develop favourably until around 2027.
The elegance and finesse of a red wine from Burgundy
The estate
Founded in 1859 in Beaune, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy. Both a négociant house and the owner of prestigious estates, it now enjoys international renown while preserving its strong local roots. Currently owned by the American Kopf family through the Kobrand company, the property is led by its president Thomas Seiter. The house stands out for its deep respect for terroirs and its strong environmental commitment, formalised within its own ecological manifesto.
The vineyard
Located in Saint-Désert, in the Côte Chalonnaise south of the Côte d'Or, the Croix Perrières plot is a terroir renowned since the early 19th century. This single-block vineyard benefits from an ideal southern exposure right in the middle of the slope, favouring optimal sunshine and excellent natural drainage. This configuration makes it possible to produce a Burgundy wine with a strong and authentic identity.
The vintage
The 2022 year was broadly characterised by hot and dry weather. These climatic conditions favoured high levels of ripeness, yielding generous grapes while retaining a fine natural balance.
Winemaking and aging
The making of the Bourgogne Rouge Domaine des Croix Perrières 2022 reflects the house's philosophy, aiming to respect the identity of the appellation. Ageing is carried out in a moderate manner, both in duration and in the proportion of new wood used, in order to preserve all the freshness, the brightness of the fruit and the accessibility of the cuvée.
