Tasting notes

Appearance
This wine reveals a deep garnet-hued robe.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet is powerful, unveiling lovely notes of cherry accompanied by hints of liquorice.

Palate
The palate offers a fresh texture with silky, well-integrated tannins that never dominate. The whole is distinguished by excellent length, gradually revealing subtle notes of undergrowth.

Food and wine pairing

This cuvée pairs wonderfully with refined dishes such as a duck parmentier with truffles, capon, or feathered and furred game like a salmis of woodcock or wild boar with cranberries. As for cheeses, a Brillat-Savarin will perfectly enhance its aromatic profile.

Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Chatelots" 2012, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 15 and 17°C. Regarding its ageing potential, this wine can be kept in the cellar to be enjoyed until around 2022.

The estate

Officially founded in 1797 in Beaune, Maison Louis Latour is a true institution in Burgundy. This family estate, now led by the twelfth generation with Eléonore Latour at its helm, spans fifty hectares of vines, including an exceptional majority of Grands Crus. A unique feature for a brand of this scale, the estate has its own integrated cooperage. Committed to sustainable viticulture, the house produces wines that reflect all the richness and diversity of Burgundy terroirs, while preserving its historic independence.

The vineyard

The vines that give birth to this Chambolle-Musigny flourish on clay-limestone soils dating from the Jurassic period, offering excellent drainage. Located at an altitude varying between 250 and 300 metres, these plots benefit from an average vine age of thirty-five years. The estate favours controlled yields of around 35 hl/ha to concentrate the aromas, and the harvest is carried out entirely by hand in order to rigorously select the finest berries.

Vinification and ageing

The making of the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Chatelots" 2012 begins with a traditional fermentation conducted in open wooden vats, followed by a full malolactic fermentation. The wine then benefits from ageing for ten to twelve months in French oak barrels, 40% of which are new. These barrels, with a medium toast, come directly from the estate's own cooperage.

Grape variety

This wine is made exclusively from the Pinot Noir grape variety.
