Description
Charles Heidsieck crafts a powerful, complex, and elegant Ambonnay red wine
The estate
A benchmark in its field, the Charles Heidsieck Champagne House safeguards a prestigious heritage with chalk cellars that are two millennia old. A pioneer, Charles Heidsieck set itself apart as early as the late 1980s by highlighting the exceptional aromatic evolution of its multi-vintage Brut champagne. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck became the first Champagne House to indicate the year of “cellaring” to allow tracking the wine’s evolution over time.
The vineyard
The Charles Heidsieck Champagne House owns a vineyard of about 60 hectares in the Marne and Aube regions. This vineyard is certified for sustainable viticulture as well as High Environmental Value certification. In addition to its own vineyard and following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck supplements its needs through long-term supply contracts with rigorously selected growers and cooperatives in Champagne.
The wine
Crafted from a rigorous selection of the finest terroirs, this Ambonnay 2019 reflects the house’s desire to release a limited series of wines from the most outstanding Coteaux Champenois. This exceptional cuvée is made from grapes grown in the “Les champsots” plot, located in the heart of the Ambonnay terroir, a renowned Grand Cru situated south of the Montagne de Reims.

This wine is aged for one year in old oak barrels.
Grape variety
