Description
An exceptional gift set featuring the Brut Millésimé and Brut Collection Crayères by Heidsieck
The estate
A benchmark in its field, the Champagne Charles Heidsieck House safeguards a prestigious heritage with chalk cellars dating back two millennia. A pioneer, Charles Heidsieck distinguished itself in the late 1980s by highlighting the remarkable aging potential of its multi-vintage Brut champagne. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck became the first Champagne House to indicate the year of “mise en cave” (cellaring), allowing the evolution of the wine to be tracked over time.
The vineyard
The Charles Heidsieck House owns a vineyard of about 60 hectares in the Marne and Aube. This vineyard benefits from sustainable viticulture certification as well as the High Environmental Value certification. In addition to its own vineyards and following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck supplements its needs with long-term supply contracts from rigorously selected winegrowers and cooperatives across Champagne.
The gift set
Produced in very limited quantities, the Duo Millésimé X Brut Mis en Caves gift set brings together two great champagnes from Charles Heidsieck: the Mis en Caves 2001 disgorged in 2006 and the Vintage 2000 disgorged in 2012.
The wines
The Mis en Caves 2001 Disgorged in 2006 on the 2000 base Charles Heidsieck champagne is the result of a blend of pinot noir (37%), chardonnay (42%), and pinot meunier (21%) and displays a complex aromatic bouquet. Roasted notes fill the nose, mingling with hints of blond tobacco, followed by indulgent notes of nougat and quince paste. On the palate, the full generosity of this Brut champagne is revealed with delicious and ample flavors of roasted peanuts, mocha, and toasted brioche. The lingering finish, marked by pleasant bitterness, stretches out on tangy and rounded notes of candied lemon and blood orange. Made from a blend of pinot noir (60%) and chardonnay (40%), the Vintage 2000 disgorged in 2012 Charles Heidsieck opens with toasted notes, with ripe fruit aromas gradually emerging. The intensity on the palate suggests a great cellaring potential for this vintage champagne, which finishes on spicy and peppery notes.
