A balanced and aromatic champagne

The producer

An essential reference for great Champagne wines, the Charles Heidsieck House maintains a prestigious heritage with two-thousand-year-old chalk pits. The pioneering Charles Heidsieck began to distinguish itself from the end of the 1980s through showcasing its multi-vintage Brut champagne’s exceptional capacity for aromatic evolution. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck was the first Champagne house to indicate its “cellaring” year to follow the evolution of the wine over time.

The vineyard

The Charles Heidsieck Champagne House owns a vineyard of around 60 hectares in Marne and Aube. This vineyard has received sustainable viticulture and High Environmental Value certifications. In addition to its own vineyard and through following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck supplements its vineyard with long-term supply contracts with rigorously selected wine-growers and cooperatives in the Champagne region.

The wine

This Brut Millésimé 2005 by Charles Heidsieck is made from exceptional Premiers and Grands Crus.

The blend

Charles Heidsieck's Brut Millésimé 2005 comprises a blend of Pinot Noir (60%) and Chardonnay (40%).

Charles Heidsieck's Brut Millésimé 2005: Characteristics and tasting tips

The tasting

The colour is a beautiful golden hue. The effervescence boasts a great finesse.

The nose mixes fragrances of blueberry pie and plums with notes of marrons glacés, honey, chestnuts, pralines and hazelnuts.

Well-balanced, the palate is seduced by this champagne’s roundness, its smooth feel and its aromas of roasted apricots, dates and figs.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2005 Vintage Brut - a classic mix of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay -áis a very ripe and concentrated Champagne with a bit of bitterness in the finish. 2005 was austere as a young wine, but since 2015, it shows very well and promises a very good aging potential, finds chef de cave Régis Camus. The wine opens deep, pure and fresh on the nose, with very clear white fruit aromas, spiced bread and a very clear definition. Light, fresh and finesse-full on the silky-textured palate, but also round and intense, this is a very elegant and refined vintage Champagne. It has a pure and fresh finish, and a long and intense aftertaste.
