The estate
In the shadows of its 3 kilometres of underground galleries of Gallo-Roman origin, the high-quality Joseph Perrier Champagne House perpetuates a know-how and a respect for tradition which has been transmitted from generation to generation. Each plot is vinified separately so that the identity of each of the Champagne terroirs can be expressed, with bespoke ageing processes.
The wine
Named after Queen Victoria and King Edward VII who gave it this distinction, the Cuvée Royale Brut Blanc de Blancs by Joseph Perrier elegantly represents the Joseph Perrier style in an utterly fine champagne.
Dedicated to the Chardonnay varietal, Cuvée Royale Brut Blanc de Blancs by Joseph Perrier is made from the finest grand crus of Champagne, stemming from the Côte des Blancs, the Bassuet area and the family vineyard of Cumières.
Vinification and ageing
Cuvée Royale Brut Blanc de Blancs by Joseph Perrier is aged in the house cellars for 5 years. Its dosage is 7 g/litre.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%) of which around 15% is reserve wine.
The tasting
Nose
The bouquet evolves with sweet aromas of stone fruit reminiscent of apricot, all enhanced by the freshness of citrus notes and the delicacy of floral scents.
Palate
A lively and refreshing attack precedes a full-bodied palate that blends the acidic aromas of pressed citrus fruits, sweet spices (cinnamon, vanilla) with delicious biscuit notes. The finish is persistent and delicate, with a subtle hint of lemon.
