Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2018

Tasting

Appearance
A beautiful pale yellow color, traversed by a fine cordon of exceptionally elegant bubbles.

Nose
Discreet on the first nose, it gradually opens up to reveal aromas of fresh fruit, white peach, and exotic fruits, notably pineapple. With aeration, richer notes of fresh butter and pastry cream emerge, hinting at a promising complexity.

Palate
Broad and generous, the palate charms with its roundness, balanced by a vibrant aromatic freshness. It develops pastry notes in line with the nose, offering a strong personality. The finish, slightly tangy, combines hints of lemon and broader citrus, bringing freshness and tension.

The vibrancy and richness of a great vintage champagne

The estate

Founded in 1849, the Champagne Pol Roger House has upheld the excellence of its expertise and a perpetual quest for perfection for five generations. An essential reference beyond borders, the Pol Roger House is the official supplier to the British Crown as well as to the most prestigious Michelin-starred tables.

As one of the last houses to still practice hand-riddling of champagne bottles across its entire production, Pol Roger stands out for its style, authentically expressing the full potential of exceptional Champagne terroirs.

The vineyard

The Pol Roger House oversees an exceptional Champagne vineyard spanning 92 hectares, including some of the finest plots of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.

Winemaking and aging

After harvest, a delicate pressing is carried out. An initial settling takes place at the pressing center, followed by a second cold settling (6°C) for 24 hours in the House’s winery. Alcoholic fermentation occurs at a low temperature (18°C) in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Separate vinification by grape variety and by cru precedes the final blending. Malolactic fermentation. After blending and bottling, the secondary fermentation and aging take place in the house’s historic cellars.

Blend

This 2018 vintage champagne is the result of a blend of pinot noir (60%) and chardonnay (40%) from 20 Grands and Premiers Crus of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.
